Advanced dye removal by multifunctional layered double hydroxide based materials: Adsorption and kinetic studies

Due to favourable properties layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have been widely investigated for organic dye removal processes. In order study the adsorption of methyl orange, bimetal (ZnAl and MgAl) trimetal (ZnCuAl MgCuAl) adsorbents were synthesized thermally treated. The influence adsorbent metal nature content on structural (X-ray diffraction, Raman analysis), textural (low temperature nitrogen adsorption) was investigated. Adsorption behaviour, mechanisms, stability LDHs their calcined mixed oxides studied with aim elucidate adsorbent-dye interactions, enabling optimization experimental design. All LDH derived oxide had high efficiency rate, especially Zn-containing where complete decolourization (100 % removal) achieved almost instantly due super-fast adsorbent-adsorbate interaction. Two possible mechanisms initiated by interfacial phenomena in correlation properties, as well ?memory effect? reconstruction phenomenon. These results present a solid base further investigation design LDH-based Methyl orange removal, considering excellent capacities.
